During my time at GoGuardian in the summer of 2017, I had the opportunity to work on a new product feature called "Smart Filtering." This revolutionary feature automatically filters websites based on their actual content, rather than just checking if the website is on a pre-defined list or categorized. As the concept of AI was still relatively new in 2017, we knew that in order to be successful, we needed to explain how the AI worked and the value it would bring to IT directors every day.
To help solve this problem, my team and I came up with an advertising video that paid homage to the old Mac vs PC adverts of the early 2000s. The video would communicate the benefits of Smart Filtering, while using a metaphor to showcase how it leveraged AI to provide superior protection for students.
Overall, my involvement in creating this advertising video for GoGuardian's was a pivotal moment in my career. It allowed me to combine my diverse experience in film production with SaaS advertising for the first time. The video was produced completely in-house by my team, including all production, editing, and creative development. In addition, it was rewarding to work on an ed-tech product that positively impacts students and educators across the country.
We created two videos, a live action video that attempted to explain the value proposition of Smart Filtering, and an animated product video to "tease" the look and functionality. The animated video, was named alongside GoGuardian's Beacon product in the 2018 International Design Awards. See both videos below!
